Abstract

860,618. High-frequency fllters. PYE Ltd. Nov. 24, 1959 [Nov. 24, 1958], No. 37781/58. Class 37. In a high-frequency filter comprising a plurality of filter sections, the components are arranged in two groups, each consisting of one or more filter sections, on a sheet of insulating material such that the components and conductors of the two groups which are to be earthed are adjacent each other. A band-pass crystal filter, Fig. 1 (not shown), is arranged according to Figs. 2 and 3; an insulating sheet is divided into two parts l0a and 10b, one being the mirror image of the other, the components and printed circuit conductors 11 being disposed on opposite sides thereof. The input and output terminals are at the same end of the assembly and the earthed conductors are adjacent. For screening purposes a metal baseplate 12, Figs. 4a, 4b and 4d is attached to the insulating support and four metal screening cans 15 each covering a filter section is fixed to it. The filter terminal connections 14 are insulated from the plate 12 and the earth connections are connected to it at 17. The entire assembly is enclosed in a metal screening can 16 attached to the base-plate. A protruding metal rib 18 and spring 19 are provided at the junction between the two printed circuit boards 10a and 10b to prevent R.F. leakage between the conductors.
