Abstract
1422803 Microstrip filters INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 20 March 1973 [20 March 1972] 13371/73 Heading H1W A microstrip filter comprises a number of half-wavelength U-shaped (Fig. 3) strip resonators arranged seriatim on a dielectric substrate 11 with side limbs parallel and adjacent resonators oppositely orientated, the first and last (input and output) resonators having the configuration shown in Fig. 4 with the narrow limbs lying close and parallel to input and output strip conductors (not shown) also disposed on the substrate, the resonators being enclosed in a metallic shielding box 25, 26, 27. For the intermediate resonators (Fig. 3), w = d = h, where h is the thickness of the substrate 11. For the input and output resonators (Fig. 4), d 1 > d and w 1 < w. An input or output strip conductor (not shown) of width w 1 lying adjacent and parallel to limb 13a is connected to the inner conductor of a co-axial input or output socket. The metallic members 25, 26, 27 form an enclosure of non- critical dimensions which is completed by the ground-plane member 10. The latter is spaced from the substrate 11 by a conductive spacing member 30 which originally formed the testing jig employed to tune the resonators.
