Abstract
860,585. Boreholes-multiple tubing hangers. FOOD MACHINERY & CHEMICAL CORPORATION. Nov. 3, 1958 [Nov. 18, 1957], No. 35221/58. Class 85. A tubing hanger assembly for suspending two tubing strings side by side in a well comprises a tubing head 10, which has a bore 12, fixed to the top of a well casing. The bore is enlarged at the upper end to form a tapered seat 16 which supports a pair of semi-circular seal carriers 18 and 20 shouldered to fit the seat 16 and provided with an external seal 30 and a seal 34 between the carriers. Both tubing strings have similar suspension and sealing devices which in the case of the string 90 comprise a packing ring 46 compressed between a ring 44 and a ring 48 by a nut 50. The tubing string is screwed into a tubular hanger 76 which has an external shoulder 82. The maximum diameter of the hanger is less than the bore 65 of the support member 56 through which it pasess, and which is counterbored to create a shoulder 72. The hanger is supported in the member 56 by a ring 84 which engages the shoulders 72 and 82. The upper end of the hanger 76 is threaded to receive a doubleconed connector 106 which is sealed to the support member 56 by a ring 104; the other end of the connector enters a recess in the under surface of a christmas tree 114 bolted to the member 56 and is sealed to it by a ring 112. By means of this construction the christmas tree and tubing strings may be raised and lowered with respect to the well casing without destroying the seal therebetween. In a modification (not shownsee Fig. 6) only one tubing string is connected to the Christmas tree and the other is connected to the support member 56.
