Abstract

860,241. Resilient mountings. METALASTIK Ltd. Oct. 21, 1958 [Nov. 12, 1957], No. 35295/57. Class 108(3). In a resilient mounting a bush 3 is bonded to inner and outer sleeves 1 and 2. During the bonding process the rubber bush shrinks and is in tension after the process. To eliminate this tension the bush is precompressed by expanding the inner sleeve radially over its entire length. This expansion is brought about by forcing a conical drift through the sleeve 1 in the direction of the arrow 6. During this operation the ends of the rubber bush which are in the immediate vicinity of the sleeve 1 move axially towards each other. The inner sleeve 1 may be frusto-conical in shape and arranged substantially parallel with the outer sleeve 2.
