860,212. Ventilating closets. WHITEHORN, W. Nov. 24, 1958 [July 7, 1958], No. 21629/58. Class 26. In ventilating apparatus for sanitary closets a ventilating pipe 10 connects the flushing pipe 4 leading into the sanitary pan 18 with a suction fan 9 driven by a motor 8 controlled by a switch 17 operated by pressure on and release of pressure, e.g. by spring means, on the seat. The switch 17 may be automatically-controlled to cut out the operation of the fan 9 after a pre-determined time. By an over-riding switch 15, which may be manually operated, the motor 8 may be switched on or off and/or the switch 17 cut out. The motor 8 may in addition be controlled by a make-and-break switch automatically opened on actuation of the flushing mechanism on the cistern 5 and closed when the flushing ceases. With a low level flushing system the pipe 10 is connected to the pan inlet 12.
