976,026. Ventilating closets. B. C. WILLIAMS. May 6, 1963 [May 16, 1962], No. 17797/63. Heading E1C. An odour control sanitary ventilation system includes a suction fan 7 to withdraw air from a water-closet pan by means of the flush pipe 10 of the pan through a cistern overflow pipe 9, having an outlet vent 8, and operable to ventilate the pan during non-flushing periods. The fan 7 may operate continuously or intermittently through a switch actuable by pressure applied to the pan seat or by flow of water in the flush pipe 10. The fan 7 communicates with the space in the cistern 5 above the normal water level and is driven by a low power electric motor.
