Abstract
859,933. Control of A.C. motors. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO. Ltd. April 9, 1959 [July 15, 1958], No. 22682/58. Class 38 (3). A control winding 3 for a two-phase servomotor is supplied from a source 5 of signal voltage through a two-stage, push-pull amplifier comprising transistors 6, 7, coupled through a transformer 8 with transistors 11, 12. Coupling between the motor windings 2, 3, when the motor is running may produce voltage "spikes" at the bases of the transistors 11, 12, and at the collectors of the transistors 6, 7. In order to prevent this, rectifiers 14, 15 are connected between a positive terminal 9 and the collectors of transistors 11 and 12 respectively. If either of these collectors becomes positive with respect to the terminal 9, the appropriate rectifier conducts and prevents rise of potential of the collector in question. As shown, the transistors are of the PNP type. If they are of the NPN type, the terminal 9 has negative polarity and the rectifiers are reversed.
