Abstract
859,023. Asbestos filter paper. ETABLISSEMENTS R. SCHNEIDER, DUMAS & CIE, B., POELMAN, A. J. J., and GERMAIN, M. A. July 7, 1958 [July 19, 1957], No. 21666/58. Class 96. Filter paper is made from some fibres, e.g. of Cape asbestos, of sufficient length and coarseness, e.g. 20% of diameter 5 to 10 microns, to give mechanical strength and some, e.g. 20% short, fine fibres (0.1 to 0.5 microns diam.) to give high filtering capability, the remainder being of intermediate lengths and diameters. A fine-fibred paper may weigh 5 gms. per sq. metre. Aluminium silicate may be precipitated on to the fibres to increase the strength, even at 1000‹ C., or polyvinyl chloride, neoprene, polyacrylonitrile or vulcanized latex may be likewise used for strength at temperatures up to 150‹ C.
