Abstract

858,684. Door operating appliances. PETERS & CO. Ltd., G. D. May 7, 1959 [May 15, 1958], No. 15664/58. Class 65(1). A door or the like of the sliding or folding leaf type is operated by a screw device and is wholly supported thereby. Two sliding doors (not shown) are each carried by a pair of brackets 8 depending from an inverted channel-shaped trolley 9, and the trolleys, ride on shafts 1, 2, respectively coupled together in alignment at 3 and formed with right- and lefthand scrolls 7. Each trolley carries two pairs of V-faced rollers 12, 14 which are inclined to the shaft axis so as to engage the scroll at the top and bottom, respectively, of the shaft. The rollers may be replaced by sliding members or by a series of balls located in grooves as in a ball nut. The doors may be operated by rotating the shafts or by directly displacing one door or trolley.
