858,522. Borehole apparatus. SMITH OIL TOOL CO., W. C. May 19, 1958 [June 10, 1957], No. 16051/58. Class 85. A water lubricated drill bit has a roller bearing 15 for the cutter, thrust buttons 21, 22, radial bearings 23, 24 and a thrust bearing 16 therefor, the balls of which are positioned through an aperture 17 and are held in place by a plug 18 and a weld 19. Water is fed to the bearings through passages 31-35 and an inlet conduit 25 which is provided with a filter 27 and is filled with gravel or copper-coated steel balls 29.
