Abstract
857,134. Sintering plant. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A. G. Jan. 27, 1959 [Feb. 14, 1958; April 18, 1958], No. 2974/59. Class 82(1) A continuous strand sintering machine has at its discharge end, for transferring pallets from the upper to the lower strand, a lowering wheel the position of which is movable to accommodate thermal expansion of the pallets. The wheel 3 is mounted in bearings 7 set in a surrounding frame 4, and the pallets 1 are held to the wheel by guide rails 16. In one form of the invention, shown in Fig. 1, the frame 4 is supported through claws 15 on rollers 12, and a spring device 13 ensures that the wheel remains in contact with the pallet chain 1: In an alternative form, shown in Fig. 4, the frame 4 is suspended from the pivot 5, and the wheel is kept in contact with the pallet chain by means of a weight 8, which may be attached to the lower part 9 of frame 4 by a cable as shown, or may be rigidly attached thereto. In a further modification of the invention the frame 4 may be pivoted at its lower end 9, and the restoring force applied to the upper end. In yet another modification the frame 4 may be divided along its median plane so that each bearing 7 is independently mounted.
