[Also in Group XXVIII] A valve for dispensing measured quantities of pressurized liquids such as aerosols from a container has a plunger 19 movable in a measuring chamber 11 so that the latter is either connected to the interior of the container through a port 30 or to a spray nozzle 48 through a port 23 and a by-pass passage for fillin g the container connects the tubular extensions 26, 22 in which the ports are formed and is normally closed by a non-return valve 32 of rubber or other resilient material. The valve 32 is normally held closed by the spring 34 that returns the plunger upwards but, when the spray head 47 is removed and the extension 22 connected to a pressure source of the dispensable substance or a propellant gas, the valve is unseated by the gas or substance. The lower sealing gland 38 is held in position by a friction-fit nylon washer 39 and the upper gland 41 by the casing 43 by which the valve is sealed to the container.
