Abstract

856,653. Heald frames. SULZER FRERES S.A. March 19, 1958 [March 30, 1957], No. 8854/58. Class 142(2). The top and bottom members 11 of a heald frame have abutment inserts 54 to which intermediate struts 26 are attached by screws 56 passing through cross pieces 52 integral with or rigidly fixed to the struts. The insert is recessed below the surface of the member 11 as shown; or the strut 26 protrudes through the cross piece and enters a hole in the insert, which may stand proud of the member 11. The screws 56 may pass through open ended slots in the cross piece so that the strut can be detached without completely removing the screws. The screws may be so long that they encounter the heald bar 25 before they are completely unscrewed from the insert 54 or they may be provided with stops 59. The screws are such that, on tightening, their shanks stretch more than the threaded portion.
