Class 142(i) Heald support rods are secured to the heald frames, intermediate their ends, by headed studs engaging apertures in the rods, the studs being perpendicular to the plane of the heald frame. In one embodiment, supports 15, and intermediate stays 14 if provided, each carry a stud 28 engaging a longitudinal slot 41 in the support rods 34. The slots are sufficiently long and of such a width that the rods spring over the heads 32 of the studs and grip the shanks firmly. In another embodiment, the studs may be slotted to provide resilient studs and the corresponding slots in the support rods are then only slightly longer than the breadth of the stud and slightly narrower than the neck of the stud. In the first embodiment, when the support rods are subdivided at the stays 14, each support rod is positioned longitudinally by engaging a stop in a slot in the stay, or the ends of the rods may be reduced so that a shoulder acts as a stop against the side of the stay. Alternatively, stops may be formed by shoulders 43, Fig. 10, engaging the ends of the studs. In a further construction, slotted metal plates, each having a hole that engages a stud, are screwed to the rods; the rods have a corresponding clearance hole for the stud. The heald shaft is operated by rods 24, bell crank levers 23, a driving rod 22 and a cam 21.
