[Also in Group XXV] A closure ring 13 which is U-shaped in crosssection has, a clip 16, with aperture 17, extending transversely of one end 14, a flexible auxiliary strap 18 with clip 21 and aperture 22, pivoted at both of its ends 19 to the outside of the base of the U of the closure ring, and another clip 16 with aperture 17 adjacent the end 15 in such a position that when the auxiliary strap lies along the outside of the closure ring the apertures in the three clips are aligned. A lid 12 is retained on a drum 10 by the closure ring. The limbs of the U extend inwardly from the base and one limb of the U overlies the periphery of the top of the lid and the other limb of the U lies under the bead 11 of the drum. The auxiliary strap, which is of substantially the same length between its pivots as the closure ring between the pivots when the ends of the closure ring abut, is pressed down until it lies along the closure ring and the apertures in the clips are aligned with one another. A fixing screw, pin, or piece of wire can be threaded through the aligned apertures and sealed with a tamper proof seal in the usual way. To remove the closure ring, the fixing pin, screw or piece of wire is removed from the clips and the outermost clip pressed upwards as far as it will go. A sharp tap with the palm of the hand on the auxiliary strap near one of its ends will release the closure ring and allow it to expand so that it can be easily removed.
