Abstract
856,445. Controlling aircraft. SOC. NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION. March 4, 1958 [March 8, 1957], No. 6885/58. Class 4. Control device for vertical-take-off aircraft comprises an aileron 2 pivoted to a wing 1 and provided with a control arm 10 having a pivotal connection 19 with a rod 11. The rod 11 is cranked at 20 and 21 in opposite directions for engagement by spanwise-extending conduits 4, 5 respectively formed with flexible connections with fixer conduits 8, 9 for the supply of propulsive gases to nozzles 6, 7. The rod 11 is maintained in its mid-position by springs 12 and to produce, say, an upward pitching movement gas is ejected from nozzle 6 which has the supplementary effect of urging rod 11 into contact with stop 14, thereby moving the various parts of the mechanism to the positions shown by chain dotted lines to deflect the aileron downwardly.
