Abstract

856,084. Swimming baths. POTTS, R. April 29, 1959, No. 14607/59. Class 26. A device for drawing off surface water comprises an opening 1 in the wall 3 of a swimming pool so that the water level lies between the upper and lower edges of the opening, which leads via a tunnel 6 into a draw-off chamber 7 and has a-buoyant flap 2, hinged at 4 to the lower edge so that when no water flows the flap 2 floats vertically and seals the opening except for a small gap across the top. The flap 2 may be made of any suitable material having air spaces or other floatable means therein. The chamber 7 is connected to a filter plant pump by a pipe 8 and fitted with a basket screen 9 and an overflow pipe 10. On operation of the pump the flap 2 pivots and water flows. The top of the chamber 7 is closed by a removable lid 11.
