855,971. Snow melting apparatus. KENNY, J. P. April 14, 1959 [April 15, 1958], No. 11897/58. Class 107 In snow clearing apparatus comprising a casing 1 mounted on wheels 22 and propelled by the vehicle 23, the snow is scooped up by the ramp 4 and fed into the casing by the rotating paddle 12 where it is melted by hot gases emerging from the ducts 21 connected to the combustion chamber 20. Liquid fuel and compressed air for the combustion chamber burners 18 are supplied from the rear compartment 7 which contains fuel tank 8, engine 9, compressor 10 and water pump 11. The water resulting from the melting of the snow drains via the perforated floor 5 to water outlets 3 and a part of this water is recirculated via the water pump to the sprinkler system 17. Alternatively the casing can be carried on a fork-lift truck (Fig. 2).
