Abstract

855,797. Liquid spraying apparatus. REISS ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Jan. 22, 1958 [Feb. 27, 1957], No. 6578/57. Class 96. [Also in Group XXIX] A liquid spray apparatus for use in paper making, e.g. in conjunction with Foudrinier machines, strainers, felts, drums, moving wires, comprises a spray nozzle 5 connected through an adapter 3 to a spray head 2 which slides in a guide comprising consisting of a tube 1 having a slot 4 through which adapter 3 extends. A supply hose 6 connected to the spray head 2 is also guided in the tube 1 and extends into a housing 11 to engage between the concave cooperating faces of friction drive rollers 12 driven by an electric motor 13 acting through a reduction gear 14. Two adjustable reversing switches 16 operable by a stop 17 riding on a screwthreaded spindle 18 rotatable by motor 13, cause periodic reversal of the motor so that head 2 moves to and fro in the tube 1 whilst liquid, which may contain added chemicals is sprayed through the nozzle 5. Other drive mechanisms may be used, e.g. intermittent drives, and several spray nozzles may be provided, with additional spray heads, if required, all supplied by the same hose which may be of rubber, plastic nylon, fibre, or flexible metal. Other alternatives specified are mechanical reversing means comprises in the reduction gear and actuated by relays and the friction rollers 12 may engage and drive a tube connected to and extending from the spray head in the general line of the supply hose.
