Abstract
Uranium fluoride is prepared by passing an excess of gaseous ammonium fluoride or bifluoride over ammonium uranate at a temperature of 500 DEG C.-700 DEG C. for a period of 1-2 hours. Any ammonium fluorides remaining in the product may be removed by sweeping out with an inert gas, for example, argon, nitrogen, or carbon dioxide.
