Abstract
855,261. Automatic batch mixers. ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTION GUILLAUME OOMS S. A. Feb. 25. 1959 [March 24, 1958], No. 6454/59. Class 86 A malaxetor comprises counter-rotating shafts 2, 3 having part-helical stirrers with staggered openings 8 and driven by a reversible motor 15. The machine is fed from hoppers 17, 18 for dry and greasy or viscous materials respectively; hopper 18 has a heating jacket, both have outlet valves 21, 22 and there may be an automatic weighing device 16. The outlet from the malaxator is also controlled by a valve and the product is pumped by pump 27 through conduit 29 to the point of use. The bearings and seals of pump 27 are supplied under pressure with an edible lubricating oil by a pump 54. The conduit 29 has an opening 31 for insertion of a piston-like traveller Fig. 5 (not shown) for cleaning conduit 29. The pump 27 and conduit 29 may be replaced by a system of conveyer belts, Fig. 6 (not shown). An arrangement of time switches and relays, Fig. 8 (not shown) controls the machine electrically to porform repeatedly in a predetermined timed sequence a programme of operations comprising opening the inlet valves, rotating the stirrers, reversing their direction of operation, openthe outlet valve and starting the discharge pump.
