Abstract
854,403. Transformer arrangements. LYONS, Ltd., C., and LYONS, W. Sept. 2, 1957 [June 4, 1956], No. 17247/56. Classes 38 (2) and 38 (4). A voltage varying from a maximum through zero to a maximum in opposite phase is derived from a transformer comprising a ring core carrying a toroidal winding 4, along tracks on which move two contacts 2, 3 so mechanically coupled that they move in opposite directions but remain at equal distances from centre tapping 6. In a modification the voltage between the contacts is connected across the primary winding of an auxiliary transformer whose secondary voltage bucks or boosts the supply volts. The mechanical coupling may comprise conical shafts with gearing or chain or belt drives or steel tapes on drums. Specification 439,567 is referred to.
