Abstract
A mixed animal fodder contains at least 1% by weight of an oil-free liquid fish product prepared by the silaging step of first macerating fish, e.g. cod, or fish offal at a temperature below 40 DEG C. then maintaining the resultant mass at this p temperature and at a pH between 2,5 and 5 until it attains a liquid form, and susequently removing the oil which separates, as by centrifuging. Enzymes similar to those in fish roe, or lactic ferment, may be used instead of acid to maintain the pH during silage. The fish product may replace part of the protein source of a normally balanced fodder. Examples of fodders are given.
