853,622. Luminescent devices. OPTISCHE WERKE C. A. STEINHEIL SOHNE G.m.b.H. Feb. 11, 1957 [Feb. 18, 1956], No. 4660/57. Class 39(1). [Also in Group XX] In a reflex view-finder of the kind in which a frame is imaged at infinity by a mirror concave towards the frame through which mirror the scene is to be viewed, the frame is defined by the edge of an opening in a fluorescent screen set transversely in the focal plane of the mirror, the edge being bent inwards towards the mirror. As shown, the view-finder comprises a cylindrical housing 2 attachable at 1 to a camera and carrying a semi-reflecting mirror 3 which is concave towards a transparent and fluoresccent screen 4, having an opening 5 the edge of which is bevelled and defines the frame. Behind screen 4 is a transparent screen 6 held in place by a partly conical cover 8 having a viewing opening 9 and a reflecting surface 10. Light is incident on the florescent screen 4 through openings in housing 2 or the latter may be formed of translucent or transparent plastic. Specification 765,061 is referred to.
