853,423. Electric weighing systems. WELLWORTHY Ltd. June 2, 1959 [June 2, 1958], No. 17516/58. Class 40 (1). An oil consumption meter for measuring and recording the rate of consumption of lubricating oil in an internal combustion engine comprises a separate tank from which oil is pumped to the engine and means for weighing the tank. As shown, this is achieved by continuously balancing the tank against a moving counterweight 9. The tank is suspended from a beam 7, controlling contacts in the circuit of a motor 10 driving a movable counterweight 9 with the aid of a screw and nut mechanism. The movement of the counterweight 9 may be noted along a graduated scale 17 on the beam, and also recorded on paper on a revolving drum 12 by means of a stylus 14 held within the counterweight and supported by the drum.
