Abstract

853,371. Filter networks. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. Jan. 8, 1959 [Jan. 18, 1958], No. 470/59. Class 40(8). [Also in Group XXXV] In a converter where the alternating current is found to contain harmonics of the order kp=1 where k is a positive integer and p is the pulse number of the converter, shunt filter circuits 10, 11 are provided whose impedancefrequency characteristic gives a high impedance for the fundamental and low impedance minima for the two lowest harmonics (k=1). As shown in Fig. 3 the circuit 10 applicable to a six pulse converter comprises essentially two parallel connected series resonant circuits tuned to frequencies near to the 5th and 7th harmonics. A parallel circuit 11 ensures that a low impedance is provided at higher harmonics. Fig. 5 shows the impedance frequency characteristic. An alternative filter arrangement is disclosed (Figs 4 not shown). The Specification also discloses' a simpler filter arrangement not within the scope of the claims.
