Abstract

Cellular materials are produced by mixing a polymerizable material or a rubber composition with a blowing agent such as benzoyl peroxide, a a 1 azo-di-isobutyronitrile or azo-cyclohexanoic dinitrile, and exposing the mixture to high energy radiation for a time that is sufficient to cause decomposition of the blowing agent to the required extent and to cause polymerization of the material or composition to proceed to the solid state.
