Abstract
851,873. Mounting engines and gear boxes. KLOS, J. Nov. 6, 1957 [Dec. 7, 1956], No. 34590/57. Class 79(3). A suspension device for the drive unit of a rear-engined motor vehicle comprises a transverse beam 6 flexibly attached to the drive unit and two tie rods 7 flexibly attached to the drive unit and pivotally attached to the beam 6, the beam being rigidly attached to the spring means 8 of the vehicle which are attached to the vehicle body by flexible members 11. The drive unit, which consists of an integral rear axle and gear box 1 and an engine 2, is connected to the vehicle body 3 by a flexible member 4 and to the beam 6 by a rubber block 5. Connections with the tie rods 7 are formed by rubber bushes 9 and bolts 13. The lower ends of the springs 8 are supported by plates 15 attached to the axle 14.
