Abstract
851,713. Gear cutting. HARBECK, M., [trading as HEIDENREICH & HARBECK]. Oct. 24, 1956 [Oct. 29, 1955], No. 32446/56. Class 83 (3). A bevel-gear generating-machine comprises two milling-heads 15, 16, each supporting a spindle 32 adjustable thereon, the adjusted positions of the spindles being parallel to one another to provide for reduction of the cutterdiameters on re-grinding. The heads are carried on a cradle 2 on a slide 1 fed against a stop 5. The cradle carries angularly-adjustable plates 7, 8, along which the heads 15, 16 can be adjusted. The heads can be adjusted laterally by wedge-shaped gibs 19-22 movable longitudinally by pinions engaging teeth on the gibs. Each milling-cutter is rotated by a universal coupling 36 and gears 34, 33, 37, 38, a toothed coupling 62 being provided to provide angular adjustment of the cutter on its spindle to ensure correct intermeshing of its teeth with those of the other cutter. Each cutter-spindle 32 is journalled in a support 39 which is adjustable angularly about the axis of the gears 33, 37, and is secured by a bolt 40. Each cutter-spindle is urged rearwardly by springs 63 so that the cutter bears on balls 46. Each head is formed with faces 64, against which a gauging-device 52 can be held having twin dial-gauges 55, 56, for adjustment of the cutter.
