Abstract
851,467. Type printing telegraphy. DE STAAT DER NEDERLANDEN TEN DEZE VERTEGENWOORDIGD DOOR DE DIRECTEUR-GENERAAL DER POSTERIJEN, TELEGRAFIE EN TELEFONIE. Dec. 30, 1958, No. 42015/58. Class 40(3). In a tape scanning device of the type in which the tape is advanced by a periodically rotating wheel and in which one or more contacts signal whether or not the tape has moved correctly, there is provided behind the scanning head a device which engages with the transport perforations and which, due to the tape movement, actuates the contacts. If desired the device may cut the transport perforations longitudinally. On rotation of the eccentric disc 11, via a one-revolution device, lever 14 raises lever 17, 18 and the point 19 engages in a transport perforation. Next, lever 6, 7 is raised by the disc 11 causing the pawl 4 to advance the transport wheel 3. As the tape moves so lever 17, 18 is moved to the left. In turn, lever 21 moves about pivot 22 under the action of part 18 and signal contact 26 is opened. On further rotation of disc 11 lever 17, 18 is withdrawn from the tape and returns to the position shown, contact 27 being re-opened. In the event of incorrect tape movement due to a break in the tape, lever 17, 18 will not be moved forward and therefore contact 26 not opened so that, by means of known circuitry, the one-revolution device is not allowed to operate. By adjustment of the relative positions of the two parts 17, 18 of lever 17, 18 a knife 20 may be made to cut through the tape between two transport perforations when the lever is raised.
