Abstract

851,313. Spray-producers. SOC. LAB. May 27, 1958 [June 11, 1957], No. 16843/58. Class 69(3). Liquid is fed tangentially into a volute 21 and whirled therein, and formed into a thin continuous, rotary film 31 which escapes from a circular opening provided between the inner peripheries of the walls 23, 24 of the volute, Fig. 2. The film is also given a helicoidal movement about its axis of revolution 26 and is directed towards a series of blades 28 on a wheel 25 located adjacent the circular opening and rotated in the opposite direction about the said axis, whereby the liquid film is atomized and diffused into the atmosphere. As shown in Fig. 2, the inner peripheries of the volute walls 23 and 24 are curved towards the bladed wheel.
