Abstract
Seed-bearing sprays of a plant of the millet type, suitable for the feeding of cage-birds, are treated with an aqueous solution or dispersion of an edible gumming or adhesive material which is then allowed to dry. Gumming or adhesive materials specified are gum agar, gum arabic, gum acacia, pectin, gelatine, and an alginate. According to an example, millet sprays of an average weight of 23 grams were dipped in a liquid mixture of water and 5% of gum acacia, 2% of honey, 0,1% of anise oil, 0,25% of a mixture of vitamins A and D, and 0,25% of a vitamin B12 mixture. The dipped sprays were drained of surplus liquid and then dried slowly in a current of warm air.
