Abstract

850,308. Gas filters. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. March 5, 1958 [March 6, 1957], No. 7104/58. Class 8(2). A gas filter disc 1 of paper, glass wool or of sintered material is held between adjacent inner ends of coaxial tubular sockets 4, 5 inserted in a gas line 2, 3 and secured together by a cylindrical member 6 having a side aperture 8 through which the disc 1 may pass, by means of a mounting ring 9 screwed to the inner end 10 of socket 5 and bearing against the downstream margin of the disc 1 so as to hold the latter against a gasket 11 between it and the inner end of socket 4 ; the ring 9 having radial holes 12 by which it may be unscrewed from a safe distance, and the aperture 8 being normally covered by a slidable sleeve 14 extending over the assembly so formed and having lugs 15 by which it also may be operated at a safe distance. The filter is suitable for use in a conduit through which passes coolant gas from a nuclear reactor.
