849,961. Vehicle seats; upholstery. DAIMLERBENZ A. G. Sept. 12, 1958 [Sept. 13, 1957], No. 29315/58. Class 52(4) [Also in Group XXXII] Relates to a vehicle seat constructed so as to be supported partly by an extended seat box of one of the usual front seats and partly by the bonnet of the engine disposed in the driving cab (see Group XXXII). Referring to Figs. 3 5 and 7 the seat 14 comprises a wooden L-shaped bottom frame port 20 having, attached to its limbs 21, 22, by means of connecting flanges 24, 25, an arched bottom plate 23 shaped to correspond with the shape of the bonnet. Part of the limb 21 is cut- 'away at 27 to reduce weight, a fibre-board cover 26 being provided for the aperture. Pins 28, 29 on the port 20 are engageable in corresponding holes on the adjacent seat box which is extended towards the engine. An L-shaped spring box 34 having lower and upper frames 31, 32, is supported by the port 20 and the box 34 and plate 23 are covered by a resilient pad 36, 36<SP>1</SP> and a layer of wadding 41, the latter being upholstered with a covering 35. A pad 42 of vibration damping material is provided on the plate 23, and a pad 43 of damping material is also provided between the plate 23 and the inner side 34<SP>1</SP> of the box 34.
