Abstract

A polymerizable polyester composition comprises an amount of catalyst sufficient to provide a rapid cure of the composition and a volatile compound effective to inhibit curing of the compositions the catalyst being present in sufficient amount to provide a rapid cure in the absence of the volatile compound. The volatile compound may be oximes of aldehydes and ketones which contain not more than 6 carbon atoms in the molecule such as acetaldoxime, butyraldoxime, acetoxime, methyl ethyl ketoxime and cyclohexanone oxime. The resin may be made by the reaction of maleic or fumaric acid with a glycol such as propylene glycol with the optional addition of a saturated dicarboxylic acid or its anhydride such as phthalic acid or phthalic anhydride, and reacting the product with styrene.
