848,162. Feeding articles to endless conveyers. MELKA A.B. Aug. 29, 1958 [Sept. 11, 1957], No. 27813/58. Class 78 (1). Apparatus for feeding a pile 5 of textile fabric to an endless conveyer belt 10 a portion of which constitutes a cutting-out table, comprises a support 1 for the pile of fabric, which support is composed of a series of slats secured to an endless chain 2, and a clamping device 6. In operation, the pile 5 is first clamped at one end by the clamping device 6 with the support 1 in the position shown, the support 1 is then moved out from under the pile by driving one of the sprocket wheels 3, 4 carrying the chain 2, so that the pile falls on to the belt 10, and finally the clamping member 6 is disengaged from the end of the pile so that the whole pile is then deposited on the belt 10.
