Abstract
848,114. Lantern casings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Sept. 12, 1958 [Sept. 13, 1957], No. 28955/57. Class 75(4). A lantern body especially for spotlights and similar fittings producing a directional beam, comprises a front wall having a lens or window, an opaque rear wall and double side walls extending between the end walls, the side walls being spaced apart and provided with offset apertures which allow free circulation of convection currents caused by the heat of the lamp but prevent emission of light. The walls are spaced apart substantially uniformly around the fitting and the space between them is substantially free from obstructions which would interrupt the smooth flow of air currents and produce abrupt changes in their direction of flow. The lantern body may be in the form of an octagonal prism having outer walls 6 with gaps 8 and inner walls 7 with gaps 9 offset from these, the walls being connected by nuts and bolts 11 carrying spacing members 10. The lantern may be mounted in a U-shaped yoke 21 carried by a main support 22 for adjustment in two directions and the lamp may be adjustable relative to the lens as described in Specification 847,531.
