Abstract

848,100. Stud and socket fastenings. F.T. PRODUCTS Ltd. April 8, 1958 [May 30, 1957], No. 17260/57. Class 44. A fastener is formed from a single strip of resilient material bent about lines transverse of the strip to form a loop open at one end, the loop comprising two limbs 12,13 joined by a closed nose 11, wherein the free ends of the limbs are oppositely outwardly bent with respect to the loop to provide a pair of outwardly directed feet 18, 19, wherein at least one of the limbs is bowed outwardly between its feet and the nose to provide an outwardly directed snap-engaging knee 16 or 17 and wherein there is sheared and bent out of at least one of the limbs, a lug in the form of a heel 20 or 21 directed toward and abutting, or nearly abutting, the other limb. As shown, a snap-engaging knee and a heel is provided in each limb. In another arrangement, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the heels extend downwardly from the region of the snap-engaging knees. In modification, a heel may be formed only in one limb and only one limb may be bowed to present a single snap-engaging knee.
