847,792. Aircraft floors; cargo-supporting decks. LANDSMAN, C. Dec. 7, 1956 [Sept. 7, 1955], No. 25640/55. Classes 4 and 113. [Also in Groups XXV and XXXII] An aircraft floor or cargo-supporting deck has two series of interconnecting channels 14, Fig. 5, preferably at right angles to each other, which are formed by spaced platforms 12 welded or bolted to a base 10 so that holding devices 18, Fig. 4, can be located therein and locked in position whereby articles of freight may be secured by ropes attached to hooks 28 on the said devices. Each holding device 18 comprises a base 20, having four retractable arms 22 which can be locked against the side walls of the channels by rotating a knurled ring 24, and a detachable upper member 26 which carries the hook 28. Instead of a hook 28 the upper portion 26 of the holding device 18 may have an upright tubular post over which a channelsection corner bracket, adapted to engage the freight, Fig. 6 (not shown), is fitted. Plates may cover the channels 14 to form a flat floor when the holding devices are not in use. An arrangement is shown in Fig. 9 whereby a seat 34 of an aircraft is secured to the floor by a locking nut 38 of the seat support 36 acting on an inner tubular member carried by the holding device 18 in place of the hook. 28.
