847,715. Screwing. LE BAS TUBE CO. Ltd. May 7, 1959 [May 8, 1958], No. 14786/58. Class 83 (3). A tube-screwing machine A having a diehead advanced under the control of a leadscrew, a fluid-operated motor D, and a triplestage reduction gear-box G, are supported by a bar C allowing rotary and longitudinal movement of the gear-box and motor relative to the machine A. The drive-shaft H is engageable with any one of three shafts E on the machine A, and shear-pins are provided in shaft H to control overloading. The motor D is controlled for forward-movement of the die-head by a hand-operated valve K, and the limit of retraction of the die-head is controlled by a threeway valve H<SP>1</SP> and a trip-valve J, the latter functioning when a plunger M engages a reduced part C<SP>1</SP> of the shaft C and actuates a push-rod N of the trip-valve J, thus stopping the fluid-supply to the motor D.
