An injection moulding machine has a worm 1 which is automatically rotated during its forward movement, and separate means (e.g. a worm drive 4) are provided for rotating the worm when it is not moving longitudinally. An hydraulic device 6, 7 moves the worm longitudinally and simultaneous rotation is produced by a threaded portion 8 of the worm cooperating with a keyway 10 in a member 3.
