Abstract

In a harvesting machine 6, hay is picked up from the ground by a rotary device 25 and directed by a pair of screws 32 into the throat opening 21 in the casing 15 of a rotary impeller 19 which consists of two sets of blades 48, 49 arranged on opposite sides of a supporting disc 47. The blades 48 direct the hay through a pipe 53 into a wagon 13 which is towed by the machine. When the wagon is full, it is towed to the barn 59 and the hay is transferred by forking from the wagon to that part of the casing 15 which contains the blades 49 and is projected by them into the barn. When the inlet 54 is not in use, it is closed by a door 55.
