846,348. Rotary printing machines. VEHICULES INDUSTRIELS ET D'EQUIPEMENTS MECANIQUES (SAVIEM-Lrs) S. A. DES. March 20, 1958 [May 2, 1957; June 28, 1957], No. 8944/58. Class 100(2) A rotary intaglio printing press is characterised in that it comprises a rigid container 1 enclosing an engraved cylinder 9, an inking device 13, means for pressing paper to be printed against the cylinder and take-up and delivery rollers 8 for the paper, and has an independent framework attached to the upper part of the container, carrying a drier and guide rollers 24, 35 for drying the paper. The independent framework comprises side members 20, 21 joined by crossmembers 22 and a body consisting partly of sliding members 23 to give easy access to the inside. The roller 35 is arranged on symmetrical brackets 33, 34 so that paper may be led in or taken off on either side of the machine. To this end the inking device 13 and scraper 16 are pivotally mounted on arms 14, 18 respectively so that they may be on either side of the cylinder 9 depending on its direction of rotation. The drier comprises a fan 25 which sucks air from a duct 26 and delivers it via a duct 27 to a heater 28. The heated air is conveyed to duct 29 the upper parts of which are perforated. After drying the paper in the independent framework the air is sucked back into a perforated duct 31 and passes back to the duct 26.
