Abstract

845,520. Photographic shutters. GAUTHIER G.m.b.H., A. July 25, 1956 [Aug. 12, 1955], No. 23029/56. Class 98(1) The blades of a photographic pivoted blade shutter are held open for a bulb exposure by an element which moves into its locking position when the shutter release member is depressed and is positively held in that position by said member. The shutter shown has a pivoted bulb lever 18 which is urged clockwise by a spring 19 and has a lug 18c for engagement with a projection 4a on the spring-driven master member 4, a cam surface 18f terminating in a hook 18e and an arm 18a projecting through a cam slot in the shutter speed setting ring (not shown). When this ring is moved to the bulb setting, the lever 18 takes up the positive shown and, when the shutter release lever 13 is depressed, the lever 18 pivots clockwise so that cam 18f follows a pin 21 on lever 13 and lug 18c moves into the path of the projection 4a to arrest the master member after it has moved a sufficient distance to open the blades. By this time, levers 13, 18 have pivoted to such positions that pin 21 is engaged by the hook 18e so that master member 4 cannot move until lever 13 is allowed to return under the action of its spring 16.
