Abstract
844,878. Acoustic delay lines. BAILEY METERS & CONTROLS Ltd. Aug. 8, 1958 [Aug. 9, 1957], No. 25165/57. Drawings to Specification. Class 40(8). [Also in Group XL(c)] An acoustic variable-delay line used in an ultrasonic pulse-echo system (see Group XL(c) ) consists of a spiral of nickel wire coupled at one end to a fixed magnetostrictive transmitter coil and traversed throughout its length by a receiver coil. In another arrangement a transmitter and receiver are mounted on respective relatively movable spaced plates so that a transmitted pulse is reflected back and forth several times between them before reaching the receiver.
