Class 131 [Also in Groups VI and XXIII] An applicator for applying liquid to the hair comprises spaced infusion members 14 extending outwardly from a liquid chamber 10, each infusion member having a liquid discharge channel 26 extending along its side from base to tip and there being a projecting wall 16 extending from the chamber and surrounding the infusion members. A screw cap 20 has an integral elongated chamber 10 which in use communicates with a resilient bottle carrying the cap 20 through a slot 22. Infusion members 14 projecting from the top wall of the chamber 10 are arranged in an array comprising two staggered rows. Each infusion member 14 has a channel 26 extending from its base to its tip and facing transversely of the longitudinal axis of the array. The channels 26 communicate with the chamber 10 through offset orifices 28 in the top wall. A resilient, bibulous mass 32 e.g. cellulose sponge, polyurethane, sponge or felt is retained above the chamber 10 by a peripheral wall 16 and extends around the infusion members 14. Recesses 18 in the end portions of the wall 16 enable the mass 32 to be compressed as the device is pressed against a tress of hair wound on a rod. In an alternative construction for use with pin curls, the infusion members are arranged in a circular array (not shown) on the top wall of a screw cap, liquid discharge channels being disposed along the sides of each infusion member which face transversely of the radius of the array passing through the infusion member. An elongated chamber with. infusion members may be connected by a tube (not shown) with a rigid bottle from which liquid is discharged by a pump.
