Abstract

656,877. Combs. DAVITCHO, S. I. Sept. 6, 1947, No. 24574. [Class 131] A comb comprises a back member, formed with at least one longitudinal recess on its underside or with at least one opening which extends through the back from the top to the underside, and one or more teeth carriers detachably assembled within the recess or opening and spring-loaded to move transversely of the length of the recess or opening when the comb is in use. As shown the comb back 1 is provided with cylindrical recesses 3 in each of which a looselyfitting teeth carrier 4 is slidably received. The sides of the carrier 4 are flattened at spaced intervals, at 6, and provided with transverse grooves 7 in which springs 8 are housed. The undulating line formed by the free ends of the teeth 10, 11, 12 is staggered in adjacent rows to aid the combing effect. In modifications the carrier may be sectional or may be retained in the recesses of opening by resilient clips, tension springs, spring-pressed balls or clamping members, or elastic material, e.g. rubber may form the back or an insert in the back.
