Abstract

1358608 Reservoir cosmetic applications MENLEY & JAMES LABORATORIES Ltd 16 Nov 1972 [3 Aug 1972] 52894/72 Heading A4K In a cosmetic applicator in which cosmetic contained in a casing 16 is fed to the applicator head by a piston (22) Fig. 2, (not shown), mounted on a screw thread (20), the applicator comprises a tip 36 over which a resilient porous pad 48 is secured, a reservoir 50 of cosmetic being formed between the pad and tip when cosmetic is fed from the casing by the piston, pressure on the pad causing flow of the cosmetic in the reservoir to the surface to be treated. As shown the pad is in contact with the upper surface of the tip when no cosmetic is between the tip and pad. The tip may be formed with a concave upper surface or the pad spaced from the upper surface of the tip so that the pad and upper surface of the tip are not in contact when there is no reservoir of cosmetic therebetween. The tip may be of rigid or resilient material.
