[Also in Group XXXVI] An electrical terminal 10, fixed to conductor 13, with a spade end 11 and ferrule 12, is formed from sheet metal, the ferrule being U-shaped with a flat bottom 15 and side walls 16, 17 which upwardly extending ears 20 and 22, 23 respectively so placed that when the side walls are curled over by the die 30 to clamp upon conductor 13, ear 20 engages space 21 between ears 22, 23 and encloses several strands of the conductor between itself and the side wall. The die is so shaped as to bend the side walls in a curved path and, because of their alternate arrangement, "they consequently engage the strands beyond the longitudinal central line and sweep them back to the side wall thus forming a serpentine bend in the strands to fix them more firmly. In another modification, the flat bottom of the ferrule has a raised portion aligned with the central ear which bends the strands of the conductor perpendicular to the above-mentioned serpentine bends.
