Abstract

A ceramic ring member, e.g. of ferrite, is cast from a slip comprising a ferrite dispersion and a moulding vehicle comprising a resin dissolved in an organic solvent. In one example 90% by weight of ferrite is dispersed in methylated spirits and 9% by weight of cold hardening epoxy resin is dissolved in acetone, the ferrite dispersion added to the latter solution, the mixture stirred and evaporated to casting consistency. 1% by weight of a hardener is dissolved in a little acetone and added to the mixture which is then slip-cast in a rubber mould. The casting is partially dried so that it may be removed and is then heat treated so that the resinous part is removed and the ferrite is caused to sinter without the formation of cracks. In a further example the moulding vehicle comprises a resin, dissolved in acetone, and wax, dissolved in carbon tetrachloride. Specification 730,703 is referred to.
